THANK YOU: Adobe MAX 2017, Las Vegas

Last week I was out in Las Vegas presenting for my very first time at Adobe MAX; the Largest ‘Creativity’ Event in the World with 2017 seeing in excess of 12 thousand attendees!

Adobe Max

To be honest, even now some 5 days after the event has finished I’m still buzzing; such an INCREDIBLE event and like nothing I’ve ever been to or presented at before.

Adobe MAX ran from Wednesday 18th thru Friday 20th October 2017 (not including the additional extended Pre Conference Classes on Monday and Tuesday) and is the highlight ‘Creative Event’ of the year hosted by Adobe and 2017 held in the Venetian Hotel Resort and Conference Centre in Las Vegas.

I could write so much about the event but instead I’ll repeat what I said a few lines back to summarise it…INCREDIBLE; especially when you consider the amount of people in attendance, all the classes, session, labs and hands on workshops that run throughout all the days, the enormous Expo Hall and that EVERYONE in attendance is provided with a sit down breakfast and lunch; food I would have happily paid good money for in a restaurant. How they provide such and on such a HUGE scale is UNBELIEVABLE!

Arriving the Saturday before the start of the event was great giving some down time to see a bit more of Vegas but also to get quality time catching up with friends that I only get to see when fortunate to travel abroad to present…

Right Shot: (L to R) Corey Barker, Dave, Jesús Ramirez, Yours Truly

So many other friends but too many to list including: Corey Barker, Mark Heaps, J.R. Maddox, Colin Smith, Jesús Ramirez etc… Honestly…I feel so damn lucky because of the people this industry has brought into my life!

Even got to see one of my favourite Bands, The Script playing LIVE…

The Script

So excited to that some of the Guest speakers at this years Adobe MAX included Actor, Producer, Director and Writer John Favreau; known for such films as Iron Man, Jungle Book and Chef to name just a few from his vast portfolio. Mark Ronson, Music Producer and Musician and Potter / Designer Jonathan Adler; all of whom were completely engaging, funny and inspiring; a real treat to get to see them.

Mark Ronson

An extra unexpected treat for all attendees was the MAX Bash; a huge party organised by Adobe with this year seeing Mark Ronson DJ’ing; a superb evening and one to remember!

A surreal moment was during a book signing when I was asked to sign my latest book ‘Photograph Like a Thief’ and Katrin Eismann whom I’ve followed to learn from since day 1 held the book open for me. You know, no matter how long I’m around this industry when things like this happen, making friends with your industry heroes, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it 🙂

Katrin Eismann

I was teaching 2 sessions over Thursday and Friday; “Everyday Selections in Photoshop made EASY” which I thoroughly enjoyed presenting to two fantastic friendly crowds. I didn’t realise before the event but during the sessions those in attendance submit ratings and review your presentation and the results of which get passed to you via email soon after. Opening the email was like opening your school exam results (talk about nervous) but I’m so thankful that I couldn’t have wished for better so THANK YOU! As a presenter, knowing that you’ve done a good job by not only teaching but making it engaging is the best payment you could ever wish for!

Anyway I just wanted dive in whilst I’m still up on Cloud 9 after a SUPERB week out in Vegas and thank everyone who not only came along to my sessions but whom I also met whilst there for the week; an incredible event full of incredible, creative, friendly people!

Fingers firmly crossed for next year out in Los Angeles!
Cheers

  1. Glyn, you mentioned in your email about sharing the example files to work through them slower individually. Where would I find them?

    1. David…you just need to go to my website glyndewis.com and go to the newsletter section. If you put your name and email in I can include you in the email tomorrow evening. Cheers, Glyn

  2. Your session was fantastic! I really appreciate the tips and advice you shared!

  3. Your section was truly awesome to listen and learn from. Being a newbie in Photoshop, it was awesome to see what you were teaching to those who have been working in it for a long time, but it wasn’t hard to follow at all. Honestly, I felt like it was giving me a foot up in a program that I am learning and learning to appreciate. I hope you’re back for MAX next year!!

    1. Annette…thanks you SO MUCH for taking the time to comment here; you have totally made my day / weekend.
My very best wishes to you
      Glyn

  4. A bit late but wanted to say how excellent your session was at Adobe MAX—I’m so glad I signed up for it. Thank you for all the tips and the work you do. I’ve also signed up for the newsletter and truly enjoy it and the videos. Thanks!
