NEW PICTURE + Composite Images: Mamma (Elephants in the Rain)

Hey Eveyone,

I hope all is good with you and you’re looking forward to the weekend.

As always thanks so much for stopping by; I really do appreciate it!

Following on from Wednesday video tutorial I thought you might like to take a look at the final image of the elephants and also a look at all the images used to put it together in Photoshop.

So first of all here’s the final retouched imaged that I’ve called MAMMA (Elephants in the Rain)

Check out a Larger / Better screen quality version here [Link]

Below you can see all the images that were combined to make the final picture.

I’d been looking for a suitable photograph of elephants to use in this picture having had the idea in my head for quite some time. I’d visited a Safari Park here in the UK but due to the weather the elephants there (Whipsnade) the elephants weren’t wandering in an area suitable due to the ground being so wet. I also made the mistake of going to a zoo here in the UK too which is something I will never do again; incredibly upsetting to see such beautiful animals clearly not being themselves and in enclosures way too small. It took me 2.5 hours to drive there and I must have been inside for no more than 15 minutes before I left!

Thankfully whilst instructing at The Photography Show, NEC recently I caught up with a friend of mine (Dave T) who told me he’d only just returned from having been on a Safari in Kenya. I asked if he had any elephants photos he’d be happy for me to use in a new picture I wanted to do and without hesitation he sent a few over.

So along with DaveT’s photograph here’s other images I used in the final picture; the field being 5 minutes from my front door…

I’ll be recording a couple more videos over the coming weeks showing some of the retouching techniques but in the mean time if you missed the video n Wednesday showing how to create the Sun Beams here its is:

As always if you have any questions / comments then feel free to drop me a line to glyn@www.glyndewis.com or post a comment in the section below.

Over the coming months I’m going to be working on a new personal project based around animals so rest assured I’ll share them as they’re complete along with a look at the the making of etc…

Finally, A HUGE thank you to those of you who have since viewed, liked and commented on this picture over on 500px; I saw this morning that it reached the Number 1 spot with 99.9% !!!

Ok that’s all from me for today so whatever you’re up to, have a fantastic weekend and I’ll catch you back here in a few days.

Enjoy,
Glyn
