Spent some time in London yesterday evening catching up with friends Joe McNally and his wife, Anne who were at the end of their stay having been in the UK lecturing and hosting workshops.
Always great to catch up and spend time with friends over a drink and a bite to eat when they have and continue to be a huge positive influence both professionally and personally.
If you listen to the podcast Dave and me host, HE SHOOTS, HE DRAWS you’ll know that Joe has been a Guest and the episode proved to be extremely popular (no surprise there) so as he was in town with Anne, we all decided it would be a great opportunity to record a four way conversation.
The episode will be on the podcast very soon but in the mean time I thought it would be useful to anyone considering hosting their own podcast, to show what we use when recording out and about…
This thing is fantastic! Incredibly easy to use and superb sound! Can plug 4 XLR microphones into it too!
We’ve got 4 of these in total and use them for recording podcast episodes on location. Again, superb sound quality!
Great piece of kit that we use with the cable below for powering the Zoom H6 without batteries
One end goes into the Zoom H6 and the other into the Travel Plug making it mains powered anywhere in the world so no need to worry about batteries dying midway through a chat / interview
And of course, to keep all of this in along with Rechargeable Batteries, XLR Cables, Notepad, pen, spare memory cards etc…
Fits everything in so we can keep it all in one place.
If there’s one thing we’re learned on way to beyond the 100,000 downloads of our podcast it’s that great audio is a MUST and although not particularly cheap, the Zoom H6 is a superb piece of portable kit and when used along with the Audio Technica microphones it’s a Winner!
I’ll be using this kit along with my Sony A6500 to record an interview this coming weekend (after taking his portrait) with an ex Royal Marine who served in the Royal Marines during the D-Day Landings and then onto the Battle of the Bulge so I’ll let you know once that is online to view.
